Movie Theater Inspired Birthday.

I love a good themed party. In my opinion the biggest benefit of choosing a theme is that it facilitates the decor. I consistently search for party theme ideas online and while I enjoy seeing a photo of the party, sometimes I have questions.
Today we are going to talk about a party I decorated that was movie theater inspired. I am going to talk a little bit about the elements I liked, the things I would change, and how I made it happen.
When decorating for a birthday, usually the cake table background is usually the most important as that is when you want to take the most photos. For this birthday I decided to make a very large popcorn with a project board, party streamers, and balloons.
This birthday decor budget was less than $50. When you are this type of budget you need to get creative. A purchased backdrop doesn’t always look good on its own, but when you integrate more custom details it looks much better.
To make the large popcorn bucket, I used a presentation board and taped on red and white party streamers. If I was doing this again, I would add a white oval piece in the middle that says popcorn just to finish the look. The popcorn for the bucket was made with white and yellow balloons. For budgeting purposed we used folded tape to stick these to the wall.
Adding a detail to the table other than the cake, can give the whole look more dimension. These popcorn boxes filled with “movie theater popcorn” made it feel a little bit more like a visit to the movies.
Using most of the same supplies, I was able to make a second space. This area was used more like a photo booth backdrop. The only additional supplies were a black poster board. With that poster board and white copy paper i was able to make the clap board that says Happy Birthday. Being in a corner presented the challenge of using both walls and making them look cohesive.
What do you like about this look? Is there anything I could have done better? Let me know below.
Until next time
